Court Documents Filed, Deal Set to End Years-Long Battle

Guilty Plea to Single Espionage Charge

Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, is set to plead guilty to a single espionage charge in front of a US judge on Wednesday. This guilty plea comes as part of a plea deal with the US Government, which will bring to an end a years-long standoff between Assange and the US authorities.

Court documents revealing Assange's plea deal were filed Monday evening in US District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands. Under the terms of the deal, Assange will plead guilty to violating US Espionage law, while the US will drop all remaining charges against him.
